Grower: Count Antonio Nardi Dei-da Filicaja, a family owned estate since 1452.
Village: Montaione, 36 miles southwest of Florence. Vineyard is at 354 meters
elevation over the surrounding Tuscan landscape.
Soil: Arenaria and calcari alluvial.
Grape Varieties: Sangiovese (90%) Canaiolo (10%)
Age of vines: 50 years on average.
Vinification: Organically grown, estate grapes. Harvested entirely by experienced pickers who avoid immature grapes, leaves or broken skins. The grapes we use are harvested by hand into crates with a specific harvest-transfer-destemming criteria, which enables the destemming and the pumping of the must into fermentation tanks within a maximum of 15 minutes after picking the grapes from the vine. All grapes are checked and sorted bunch by bunch in order to have only perfect grapes for our wine.
Tasting Notes
"Aromas of plum, black cherries in lifted bouquet. Medium-bodied, with red Bing cherries and red berries with silky tannins. A subtle savory element in the mid-pallet adds to the complexity and great structure to keep the wine fresh. "
